Maddie Perry Paradell

December

chopping at the root, down it goes.
chopping at the root, down it goes.
pine needles cover the floor,
pine needles cover the floor.
lights hug the branches tightly.
the tree glistens

delicate glass ornaments are hung,
delicate glass ornaments are hung,
some slipping, slipping and crash
some slipping, slipping and crash
ornaments hung are glass and delicate
crash.

warm Gingerbread wafts throughout the warm fireplace air
warm gingerbread wafts throughout the warm fireplace air
fire crackling, popping, and chestnuts burn
fire crackling, popping and chestnuts burn
the warm air, crackling as the gingerbread wafts throughout the fireplace

glass lights glisten throughout
branches chopped are crackling in the fireplace
delicate ornaments hug the pine
and slipping needles cover the floor

burn the chestnuts and waft gingerbread

This poem came to us from the example you explained at the start of class. When the lady booed him because of his basic and "not best" work it made us think of typical poems. With the holiday season coming up a Christmas poem we thought would fit the description of a typical poem with the "christmasy" adjectives and lines, this is what sparked the idea for our poem.
